Press ReleasePublic Themed Meeting of the Derry District Policing PartnershipMonday, 30 November 2009Wednesday 9th December at 10.00am in the Waterfoot Hotel. A Public Themed Meeting of the Derry District Policing Partnership (Derry DPP) will take place on Wednesday next, December 9th, at 10.00am in the Waterfoot Hotel, Caw. This themed meeting will deal specifically with the issue of Domestic Violence and its impact on the community. Encouraging members of the public to attend the meeting, Chairperson of Derry DPP, Councillor Elisha McLaughlin commented: “The meetings which the District Policing Partnership hold in public are designed to allow people to attend and voice any concerns either directly to the Area Commander or through a member of the District Policing Partnership.” “Many people in Derry have been the victim of domestic violence and this meeting will specifically address this topic through presentations from local experts. The PSNI will also provide an overview of the impact of this crime on the local community.” “The Derry DPP has ensured that the issue of Domestic Violence has again been included in this years local policing plan and we will continue to monitor how the police are dealing with and preventing this crime.” “It is your partnership, your policing needs and therefore your involvement as a community is vital. The importance of these Public Meetings cannot be underestimated. All the Members of the Derry DPP both elected and independent continue to work extremely hard to ensure we have a policing system that is democratic and equitable for all. I believe that through public participation local people will feel that the future of local policing is truly theirs.” “Therefore, I feel it is vitally important that as many people as possible come along on Wednesday 9th December 2009 to give their opinions and hear at first hand the progress that has been made on this specific issue of concern.” Ends Press OfficeTel: 028 71 376504Fax: 028 71 265448 Adele McCourt Email: Adele.McCourt@derrycity.gov.uk Claire Lundy Email: Claire.Lundy@derrycity.gov.uk |
